Theory and mechanisms of Medical Bioelectronics

I.Theory and mechanisms of Medical Bioelectronics.

The chapter Medical Bioelectronics Theory and Mechanisms retrospectively presents the results of original experimental and theoretical investigations of the initial period (1970 — 1980). In this period of medical bioelectronics development it was needed to scientifically explain the primary mechanisms of cauterization and acupuncture bioaction for the objectification of Cheng-Tsu therapy techniques and construct the general theory of various agents-stimulants bioaction transformation, proceeding from physical semiconducting electronics conceptions.

At that, the scientists proceeded from the demonstrated by experimental investigations conception: local skin areas of a healthy man, due to subcutaneous neuromuscular structures, acupuncture points in particular, may be adequately presented by equivalent electrical circuits as active nonlinear biosemiconducting thermistor structures. Such structures are described by equivalent statical S-type volt-ampere characteristics (VAC) with negative differential resistance in the range of cellular currents (< 10-6 A/cm2). The construction of the physicochemical stimulants bioaction transformation theory for the first time in bioexcitable structures modelling took into account the thermal aspect of phenomena alongside with electrical and chemical processes, responsible for bioexcitability. As a result, the new nonlinear thermal-electric time constant was introduced into neurobiology; the constant defines equivalent bioinductance as the measure of bioelectrothermal processes inertia and discloses the mechanism of frequency bioneurogeneration in ultralow frequencies range. Experimental investigations of VAC in the specified current mode showed that during conducting prophylactic, treatment, and restorative procedures the most valuable information, objectifying treatment procedures, may be obtained by measuring in real time the form variations of the equivalent VAC of local skin areas in the dynamics of organism's balancing the interventions-stimulants of external and internal environments. Equivalent VAC of local skin areas have been detected to be individual, but in healthy persons and patients, suffering from similar diseases, equivalent VAC are alike.
